The medication comes as a small pad which is treated with clindamycin topical solution. Apply a thin film of the solution twice a day to the area to be treated. Before applying the solution, wash and dry the skin on the affected area. Throw away the premoistened pad after using one time. Wash your hands after applying the medication.
Do not wash the area for at least 2 hours after applying the medication.
Clindamycin topical solution contains an alcohol base which may cause burning and irritation of the eye and other sensitive surfaces. Avoid contact with the eyes. In the event of accidental contact with a sensitive surface, bathe it with large amounts of cool tap water. To reduce the likelihood of skin irritation, wait for at least 30 minutes after shaving to apply the solution.
Clindamycin topical solution is flammable as a result of the alcohol content. Avoid smoking when applying the solution and do not use the solution near open flames.
The solution has an unpleasant taste. Use caution when applying it around the mouth. Many things can affect the dose of medication that a person needs, such as body weight, other medical conditions, and other medications. If your doctor has recommended a dose different from the ones listed here, do not change the way that you are using the medication without consulting your doctor.
Use Clindets (Clindamycin-topical) for the full length of time that your doctor has prescribed. Stopping Clindets (Clindamycin-topical) too early may allow the bacteria causing the acne to return and be harder to treat.
It is important that Clindets (Clindamycin-topical) be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor. If you miss a dose, apply it as soon as possible and continue with your regular schedule. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not apply a double dose to make up for a missed one. If you are not sure what to do after missing a dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist for advice.
